I have an MSI server running BQ (the on-topic part of post) that tells 
me a hard drive is failing. I think this may be why I have to reboot the 
server when I come in to work since email is down then last couple of 
days. Trying to restart sendmail hangs (via cli) so reboot seems to work.

The hard drive is WD2500JS and newegg reports that one is "deactivated". 
They sell other WD drives like the WD2500AAJS and AAKS. Would the former 
be fine to use?  Thanks much, Jim
