DNS resolving properly??  Is it slow from any origination point?
"Dynamic" IPs can sometimes take a little longer to resolve as the PTR
records are wonky sometimes... if it's slow from a "fixed" IP, that's
another issue, but typically slow connections are due to the DNS
resolvers being mis- or un-configured.
