We have processed several Tyan GS14 serves, and we observed;
1) All the servers were received with BIOS version 1.00
We had to reflash BIOS to version 1.15 to get normal operation.
BIOS here: http://www.tyan.com/support/html/b_gs14b5121.html
We used a USB floppy drive to reflash, setting setup to boot from
same.
2) The SATA cable with the 90 degree connector should be connected to
sdb
(drive on the right, viewed from front of server.
4) If using Legacy Molex connector, the standard Hard Drive Power Cable
is short.
We add an extension cable
5) If using the newer SATA power cable, the fit is very tight, putting
stress on the connector. As the fans are very close to the drive.
The GS12 had LED 'Lan1' as eth0, the GS14 illuminates 'Lan2' LED as
eth0.
Late model MSI servers (bottom connector eth0) also illuminate 'Lan2'
LED.
On the GS14 eth0 is the connector close to the power switch.
I assume that current protocol is that Lan1 is private and Lan2 is
public?
To summarize the GS14 works well, as long as the BIOS is 1.15 or better.
