Yes, there are several scenarios, with foreign mailservers.
If the server DNS provides the nameservers for the domain then
There will be an MX record, pointing to the foreign mailserver.
And the GUI email settings would be the foreign mailserver

If the DNS nameserver is foreigh, then the foreign nameserver would
Provide 'A' records pointing to the server, and the MX record pointing
to the mailserver.
In this case all you would do is insert the foreign mailserver domain
anme in the GUI, email services.
